Ratwik, Roszak, & Maloney partner Ann Goering, representing Carlton County, won a favorable arbitration result on a grievance of the County’s hiring decision. The arbitrator upheld the County’s hiring decision, finding that the County’s decision to hire the highest-scoring candidate rather than the most senior candidate did not violate the parties’ collective bargaining agreement. The Arbitrator determined that the County adhered to all requirements for making the hiring decision after both current employees and external candidates applied for the same position.
